BIOGRAPHY

Salvesila Tamima is a Ph.D. student in the Disaster Science and Management program. She holds a master’s degree in emergency management and disaster science from the University of North Texas, and a bachelor’s degree in disaster management from the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. In 2018, she served as an intern at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Bangladesh where she got the opportunity to directly work with the policy makers of the disaster management sector in Bangladesh. Recently, Salvesila received the Gilbert F. White thesis award 2023 for her master’s thesis from the Hazards, Risks, and Disasters Specialty Group of the American Association of Geographers.
